The 2 bees were seen collecting fluid that leak from a cleft on the tree trunk of a Penaga Laut (Calophyllum inophyllum). Two bags of yellowish fluid were visible on their legs.

The size of this bee when compared to the common honey bee (Apis cerana). Both were digging in on the flower head of the Nipah Palm (Nypa fruticans).
